The chainsaw from DOOM is real - John Romero showed the tool that has been kept for more than 30 years

The tool leaked, so a bowl had to be used to store it.

Recently, gamers once again recalled the chainsaw from the cult shooter DOOM. The reason was a post on the account of John Romero's studio.

Romero Games published a photo of the developer holding a chainsaw and added the caption:

Did you know that the chainsaw from DOOM was modeled after Tom Hall's Eager Beaver chainsaw. It leaked oil, so at the id office it was kept in a bowl. Tom still keeps the saw!

The photo itself is not particularly "fresh" — Romero published it back in 2020. Nevertheless, the studio's post gave gamers a reason to once again remember the original 1993 DOOM, and some only learned about the real prototype of the chainsaw just now.
