Agens and The Rockenbird Band, which is known in the Mafia community for Mafia 2 Extended Edition, are also working on another project.
Recently, the modders presented Mafia 2: Mafia Remake — the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is being transferred to the Mafia II engine. At the moment, an early version is available, which includes 10 full chapters, a tutorial, and a free ride mode.
The project authors are gradually making changes, refining the balance and missions, for example:
Chapter 4 shows Salieri's garage, where cars available over the course of the story will be located. Previously, the garage was not shown, which is why some players did not know how to progress through the story.
In April, the modders announced a technical breakthrough. They now have a "full-fledged pedestrian navigation editor," thanks to which they will now be able to transfer any standard navigation to any other location.
According to one of the developers, he previously had to use 5 programs to edit navigation, and even with them he "could not do it the way he can now":
