The scandal surrounding the studio Build a Rocket Boy, known for the failed release of MindsEye, continues to gain momentum. Now the company's management is facing a lawsuit filed by employees who have united in a trade union.
As a reminder, MindsEye, released in 2025, received an extremely negative reaction and was recognized as one of the worst launches in the history of the industry. Studio executives Mark Gerhard and Leslie Benzies partially acknowledged the failure, but placed responsibility for it on alleged internal and external acts of sabotage and corporate espionage.
As it turned out, in an attempt to counter these threats, management installed Teramind software on employees' devices without their knowledge. According to the IWGB Game Workers Union, the program tracked keystrokes, recorded screen activity, and could even capture audio from the microphone.
Union representatives stated that such actions violate personal data protection laws and the "basic human dignity of workers," since the system could monitor employees even in their homes without their consent. Despite the fact that the software was later removed, the union intends to take the case to court.
Information about the installation of Teramind first surfaced in February 2026 after a leak from an internal meeting at which management confirmed the fact of the program's covert deployment. Since then, the situation at the studio has only worsened: new layoffs followed, along with the closure of one of its divisions.
Studio developer and IWGB member Chris Wilson called the atmosphere inside Build a Rocket Boy "toxic", noting excessive control and distrust from management. According to him, such an environment does not contribute to the creation of high-quality games and only increases tension within the team.
