Japanese entertainment corporation Toei Company announced the creation of its own gaming brand called Toei Games.
On the international stage, Toei is primarily associated with its anime subsidiary Toei Animation, which released such hits as "One Piece," "Dragon Ball," "Sailor Moon," and others. The company has now decided to expand its field of activity and go beyond film, television, and animation by placing a bet on the video game market.
At the first stage, Toei Games will focus on the PC segment, and Steam in particular. In the future, the company plans to release games on consoles as well, including PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox.
Notably, the initial project lineup will not include games based on already existing franchises. Instead, the company intends to create entirely new intellectual property from scratch, involving both Japanese and foreign developers. At the same time, the projects will use Toei's technological expertise and production experience accumulated in the film industry.
Details about the first Toei Games titles are promised to be revealed as early as April 24.
