Microsoft Is Preparing a New Game Pass Model: Choose What to Pay For

Last year, the company sharply increased the cost of the subscription, but after the change in Xbox leadership, the course began to shift. Yesterday, new reduced pricing plans were officially announced. At the same time, Call of Duty disappeared from the service in the format of a day-one release, which became a noticeable change for users.

According to journalist Jez Corden, Microsoft is considering an even more serious overhaul of Game Pass. In the long term, the service may become flexible — users will be able to choose for themselves which features to include in the subscription.

This refers to a "build your own plan" model instead of one fixed package. For example, it may be possible to disable Xbox Cloud Gaming and lower the price, remove Fortnite Crew, or keep only the basic benefits such as day-one game releases.

Additional packages related to World of Warcraft and Minecraft (including Minecraft Realms), as well as third-party subscriptions and services, are also being discussed. The API code has already revealed the internal designations Duet and Triton, which may indicate testing of new Game Pass configurations.
