Former Rockstar Employee Released His Own Project Don't Lose Aggro and Earned 90% on Steam

Grand Theft Auto VI lost one of its developers - he left Rockstar Games to bring his own project, Don't Lose Aggro, to life.

This is about Oren Koren, who first started making games, then worked at Rockstar's Scottish division, and later decided to focus entirely on his own idea. He left the studio more than two years ago, turning down involvement in the development of GTA VI.

Don’t Lose Aggro was released on April 15, 2026 and received 90% positive reviews on Steam. It is a third-person action roguelike with an unusual mechanic: the player controls a "tank" who does not simply attack, but controls enemies and bosses while protecting the team.

The idea is based on the author's MMO experience. Koren played World of Warcraft for about 20 years and almost always chose the tank role. Over time, he grew tired of grinding and the constant need to organize groups, so he decided to create a single-player game inspired by raids and dungeons.

The project is built as a roguelike: each playthrough provides different skills and upgrades. The player can assemble a build focused on dodging, blocking, or taunting enemies, while the team role is performed by NPCs that replace standard MMO specializations.
