In a recent episode of the Broken Silicon podcast, insider Moore's Law Is Dead shared new details about a console codenamed Project Helix, which, according to him, could prove truly "disruptive" for the market.

According to the source, Project Helix will essentially be a high-performance PC in a console form factor. The device will feature a powerful APU based on a 3 nm process and RDNA5-level graphics from AMD, roughly comparable to 70–80 class graphics cards. This will make it significantly more powerful than conventional consoles, and the chip itself is claimed to become the largest in the history of gaming consoles.

The insider compared the potential impact of the new product to the effect of Apple's MacBook Neo: despite the high price, the device may offer performance comparable to gaming PCs priced at $2,000–3,000. At the same time, Project Helix is expected to cost more than $1,000, which would make it one of the most expensive consoles on the market.

However, much will depend on Microsoft and its ability to keep component costs under control, especially amid a possible shortage of RAM and SSDs. Previously, insiders, including Kepler_L2, had already reported that the new Xbox could turn out to be more powerful than the rumored PlayStation 6, although the difference in actual gaming performance may not be all that noticeable.
