In March 2026, the gaming hardware market in the United States showed notable growth. According to fresh data from analytics company Circana, hardware sales increased by 69% compared with the same period last year.

From March 1 to April 4, total sales reached $500 million versus $297 million a year earlier. The main growth driver was the Nintendo Switch 2 — it took first place both in the number of units sold and in revenue. PlayStation 5 came in second and also showed positive momentum: its sales rose by 3% year over year.

According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are 12% higher than the original Switch's figures for its first 10 months on the market. Moreover, the console remains the second fastest-selling platform in the history of tracking in the United States (records have been kept since 1995).

Looking at the results since the beginning of 2026, Nintendo Switch 2 also leads both in the number of units sold and in revenue, while PS5 holds second place in both categories.

Overall, in the first three months of 2026, sales of gaming hardware rose by 38% compared with 2025 and reached $1.07 billion. For comparison, in the same period last year this figure stood at $777 million — at that time buyers were awaiting the release of Switch 2.

Accessory sales in 2026 overall remain at last year's level, but in March they increased by 5% and reached $252 million. The main contribution came from a sharp rise in demand for cases and organizers — spending on them increased by 180% compared with March 2025.
