Recently, Fallout: New Vegas writer Chris Avellone spoke with TKs-Mantis. He talked about his work at Obsidian Entertainment and shared some memories.
As it turned out, at a certain stage the possibility of developing a hypothetical "Fallout: New Vegas 2" was discussed. At the time, Obsidian still "thought they might be able to make" a sequel, but according to Avellone, those thoughts "quickly evaporated".
Now the writer doubts that the studio will return to this idea in the coming years: "at the very least, that will not happen for the next six years — if they ever come back to it at all".
Chris Avellone has hopes for another project — he dreams of a new Fallout installment, the events of which could unfold in New Orleans:
One of our designers / producers on other projects suggested New Orleans as a setting, and I was so excited by that idea. This is going to be a strange reference, but there is an old comic book franchise launched by writer-artist Matt Wagner called "Grendel," and many stories in that franchise are very post-apocalyptic
Avellone recalled one of the Grendel comics about New Orleans (meaning the issue Grendel Tales: Four Devils, One Hell ).
He read it while researching the Fallout universe and at the time thought, "Damn, I really want to make a Fallout-style New Orleans" — the writer really liked the comic's atmosphere.
