The FreedomHellVOICE team, known for its work on the Russian dub of the first Metal Gear Solid, has taken on the localization of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The translation is based on text from the Exclusive team, previously created for the PlayStation 2 version — the authors gave permission for its use and adaptation for the Master Collection.

The project is in an active stage of development, testing, and refinement. Subtitles for cutscenes and codec conversations have already been processed, and item descriptions, location names, and materials from additional sections have also been partially adapted. Work is underway on the graphical elements.

A text-only version of the translation, fully adapted for the Master Collection, is planned for release first. After that, the team will begin creating a full Russian dub. The release dates have not yet been disclosed — they promise to announce them later.
