The developers emphasize that Saros is not just an action game, but a story-driven adventure with \"liminal\" spaces and unexpected twists that are best revealed directly in the course of playing. The game features various types and variations of weaponry, generated with each new cycle.
Particular attention is given to the modifier system, which allows difficulty to be adjusted flexibly. Players will be able both to make progression easier with defensive modifiers — for example, by increasing damage or strengthening shields — and to make the game harder through special challenges. These include weapon degradation, dangerous enemy projectiles, and the disabling of key upgrades, including a \"second chance.\"
