Road to Vostok was recently released on PC on Steam in "early access" format. It is a project by a solo developer — a former Finnish serviceman who wanted to make an extraction shooter.

He studied player feedback and released the first patch 0.1.1.1, which includes technical changes and more:

  • The engine version has been changed to Godot 4.6.2 to improve stability.
  • Optimization has been improved
  • The SMAA anti-aliasing option has been added
  • Airdrops are now highlighted with green chemical lights, so they are easier to see at night
  • The chance of loot dropping from enemies has been increased — from 25% to 75%
  • Enemies now shoot more accurately. Bugs were also fixed that caused AI enemies to attack the player through objects or get stuck in them.

When launching Road to Vostok, players now have access to the Compatibility ("Compatibility") function. When it is activated, all graphical features that are "sensitive to graphics card drivers" will be removed. The developer explained that even if some graphical elements are removed, the game should look almost identical. This option is intended for players who for some reason are unable to run the game using DirectX or the Vulkan API.

After the release of this patch, the Road to Vostok developer is going on vacation — he has been working without rest for the past several years.
