Judging by the reviews, Housemarque has taken all the feedback on Returnal into account.
On April 24, the first reviews of Saros, a new shooter with roguelike elements from the creators of Returnal at Housemarque, began appearing online.
Reviewers praise the gameplay: dynamic combat, spectacular presentation, and the high intensity of battles. The reviews emphasize that the game offers a "mesmerizing" yet tense action experience with constant movement and tactical decision-making, as well as an impressive visual style and a science fiction atmosphere.
It is also noted separately that Saros develops the ideas of Returnal. Critics believe the project has become more accessible and more "fair" to the player: the progression, save, and difficulty balance systems have been improved, though hardcore fans can activate various modifiers to make the game significantly harder.
The game's weakest point, almost unanimously, has been recognized as the script. Saros's plot lacks depth, and its characters lack development.
Some critics are also unhappy that some of the new mechanics are clearly not fully developed. Some systems may simply limit the hero or have almost no impact on the gameplay.
The game currently has a score of 88 on Metacritic and 90 on OpenCritic.
