EA is preparing its own response to the Call of Duty film adaptation. According to The Hollywood Reporter and The Guardian, a Battlefield movie has already entered active production.

The project will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the filmmaker behind the latest installments of the Mission: Impossible series and one of the writers of Top Gun: Maverick. He will also write the screenplay, while Michael B. Jordan will serve as producer and play the lead role.

Reportedly, McQuarrie and Jordan have already held meetings with Apple and Sony, both interested in the adaptation. They also had additional talks scheduled, though it has not been specified with whom. World of Reel suggests that Paramount may also be among the interested studios, where a Call of Duty film is already being developed under the leadership of Peter Berg and Taylor Sheridan.

As a result, the rivalry between the two biggest shooter franchises may move beyond the gaming industry and continue in movie theaters. The only question is timing: the Call of Duty film is set for release on June 30, 2028, while Battlefield is only now taking its first steps toward the big screen.
