Noah Hawley confirmed that filming for the second season of "Alien: Earth" will begin this summer. In an interview with Deadline, the showrunner said that the team is already preparing for production: the active phase of casting has begun, sets are being built, and the script is being finalized.
At the same time, the series' production has moved from Thailand to the UK, to Pinewood Studios, where many of the original franchise films were shot. Hawley emphasized that the move is part of a long-term strategy and implies the development of the story beyond the second season. The continuation itself, according to the showrunner, will be "larger, with a more developed world."
Hawley's words that "if the production cost and audience remain comparable, we can continue for as long as we want" are particularly noteworthy. This hints that FX is satisfied with the first season's performance.
Hawley himself, however, will be less involved in the second season's work. While he directed individual episodes in the first season, he will now limit himself to the role of showrunner due to his involvement in other projects, including the upcoming Far Cry series.
The exact release date for the second season of "Alien: Earth" is still unknown.
