Recently, a review of the Steam Controller appeared online prematurely. It was promptly deleted, but users managed to save a copy and obtain information about the new device.
Now Valve has issued an official confirmation: sales of the Steam Controller are indeed planned to begin on May 4, 2026. The device will cost $99.
For comparison: DualSense Edge and Xbox Elite Series 2 sell for $199, while the regular DualSense version sells for $74.
A special promo page dedicated to the Steam Controller is available on the Steam website, which specifies the launch time for sales: May 4, 8:00 PM Moscow time.
Some features of the Steam Controller are also provided:
- Magnetic sticks (TMR)
- Full set of input elements to play any games from the Steam library
- 4 vibration motors for high-precision vibration
- Battery capacity of 8.39 Wh; it is stated that it will provide “more than 35 hours of gameplay on a single charge”
- Steam Controller Puck (USB cable included). According to Valve, this provides “instant low-latency wireless connectivity, as well as convenient magnetic charging”
