Gothic 1 Remake without concessions: map in inventory and harsh realism

Alkimia Interactive studio confirmed that Gothic Remake will not follow modern trends and will not hold the player's hand.

The developers abandoned the minimap, believing that it would destroy the atmosphere of exploring the Valley of Mines. To check your position, you will have to, as in the original, open a physical map in your inventory – you need to buy it or take it from a cartographer. Also, the game will not have typical open-world "fillers", card mini-games, or fishing.

Fidelity to the narrative style became an important part. The player will once again act as the canonical Nameless Hero, retaining his appearance. A full-fledged character editor was abandoned for the sake of a coherent story about a hero starting from the very bottom. The diary became clearer, but entries are made from the hero's perspective and reflect only his knowledge.

Crafting and life simulation systems have been expanded. In addition to the forge with sword crafting, advanced alchemy, the ability to rewrite magic scrolls, and a more complex cooking system based on finding recipes have been added.

Alkimia Interactive also preserved the daily life of NPCs: they train, work, and gather around bonfires. Game director Reinhard Pollice noted that realism went so far that characters "will still be doing such mundane things as relieving themselves against a wall."
