Aphelion started with weak ratings - what's wrong with the game from the Life is Strange developers
The Dont Nod team showed in 2024 that they are capable of making games outside the adventure format like Life is Strange, but the studio's new experiment was met with a cool reception.
The first reviews of Aphelion were reserved. Reviews often feature scores around 7/10, but there are also significantly lower ones – 4/10 from GamesRadar and 5/10 from Gamereactor and SECTOR.
What are critics complaining about? According to many publications, the stealth sections in the 7-9 hour game are a letdown – they are not implemented in the best way. The project is praised for its beautiful graphics and interesting sci-fi story, but problems are also noted: various glitches (mostly cosmetic), as well as not the most convenient controls.
Aphelion is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as well as in the Xbox Store, PS Store, and Steam, where the game was released with a 10% discount.
