In games without a strong emphasis on ray tracing, the increase is estimated to be about 3 times.

Digital Foundry analyzed Codemasters' presentation from GDC 2026. F1 25 showed full path tracing on PS5 Pro: 30 FPS at native 1080p scaled to 4K via PSSR.

Previously, it was believed that the PS5 Pro would not be able to run this technology in a playable state. But Codemasters and EA SEED applied ORCA optimization: without it, there were about 20 FPS, after – a stable 30 FPS.

Against this background, the PS6 is also being discussed. According to Digital Foundry, with AMD RDNA 5 architecture and more powerful ray tracing, the console will be able to go further.

As a result, the PS6 could potentially provide path tracing at 60 FPS. This is a serious leap for consoles, considering the load of the technology even on expensive PCs.

Much will depend on developers, optimization, and scaling technologies, but the potential seems high.
