New Ubisoft Scandal: Physical Copies of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Angers Fans

The packaging of the physical edition states that an internet connection is required for installation. This applies to both the American and European versions. This means the disc does not contain the full game – some data will need to be downloaded.

It is currently unknown why Ubisoft made this decision. Perhaps the project does not fit on a single Blu-ray, or the publisher opted against a two-disc version. It could also be a disc-key format, rather than a full physical medium.

The community reacted negatively. Some players are already calling for a boycott, calling the physical edition a “coaster.” Users write that even fans of the original Black Flag will not buy the remake if an internet download is required.

Meanwhile, the European edition of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will receive additional bonuses – a poster, an artbook, and in-game materials that will not be available in the USA. Ubisoft adds content, but at the same time does not provide the full game on disc.
