Sony has released the first trailer for the new Resident Evil adaptation, which in Russian distribution has retained its familiar title "Obitel zla" (Resident Evil).
The film does not adapt a specific part but offers an independent story within the universe. The plot unfolds parallel to the events of Resident Evil 2. The story centers on a medical courier who travels to Raccoon City at night and finds himself at the epicenter of a virus outbreak.
The film was directed by Zach Cregger, director of "Barbarian" and "Weapons," and stars Austin Abrams. The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Jonno Wilson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Kali Reis. Cregger co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten.
The international premiere is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
