The neural network dubbing studio for video games, ReVoiceAI, announced the release of Russian voice acting for the first part of Red Dead Redemption, as well as the Undead Nightmare DLC:
Let's be honest: it was incredibly difficult and took a lot of time. Unlike GTA 5, where working with sound is objectively easier now due to the abundance of leaked source files and a disassembled structure, the Wild West did not give us any breaks. No one ever leaked RDR source files, and the game engine itself turned out to be extremely convoluted and unyielding.
The localizers said that the release was slightly delayed due to the Undead Nightmare DLC. During the work, it turned out that the DLC works with cutscenes completely differently, and technically they are arranged a little more complex than in the original game:
We had to urgently understand these hidden nuances and adapt our approach. But we worked for weeks on end and did not give up!
The current version of the Red Dead Redemption localization "v0.5" includes voice acting for all story missions, with 98% of cutscenes voiced:
Why 98%? Unfortunately, about 2% of the scenes are still without our translation precisely because of the technical features of that very "capricious" engine. Some original audio files are duplicated in the file system, and the game preferentially pulls the original, overriding our voice acting. We are already actively looking for ways to overcome this!
