Rocket League sees a surge of negative reviews on Steam - the game added EAC anti-cheat, which "killed" a mod with 1.5 million weekly users

BakkesMod support has been completely discontinued. The modification will not work with modern versions of Rocket League.

Rocket League on PC has not been sold on Steam for many years, nor does it appear in the store or search results. The game is currently distributed under a free-to-play model on the Epic Games Store.

Nevertheless, the game's page can still be opened on Steam, and during particularly "tense" moments, some long-time Rocket League fans return and leave reviews.

Recently, a new reason for discontent emerged — the developers implemented Easy Anti-Cheat, which became the last straw for the creator of one of the most popular mods for this game.

The creator of BakkesMod announced the cessation of further support for the project:

First, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed, supported, or used the mod over the past 10 years. Although the mod itself has received almost no new features in recent years, it's incredible to see how popular and widely used it still is. Over the past few years, the community has published over 800 plugins. More than 750,000 people use the mod daily, and over 1.5 million every week!

He does not hide that the appearance of EAC pushed him to this decision:

I have decided to cease active development of the mod. The appearance of EAC seems like an opportune moment to summarize. Both I and the team of key contributors who helped all these years have already moved on from the game. We maintained the mod's operation, but the former enthusiasm and desire to fully develop the project are no longer there.

BakkesMod has become a "base" for Rocket League players over the years. It allows modifying items, tracking MMR, and more. Older versions of the modification will remain publicly available.
