The mobile random access memory (DRAM) market continues to rapidly increase in price and shows no signs of slowing down. In the second quarter of 2026, prices could almost double compared to the previous quarter — analysts predict a growth of about 93–98%.

This comes after an already significant price increase at the beginning of the year. In the first quarter of 2026, the cost of LPDDR5X increased by 58–63% compared to the previous quarter, which was one of the sharpest jumps in recent years.

According to the analytical company SemiAnalysis, contract prices for LPDDR5 recently reached approximately $10 per gigabyte — three times higher than the level at the beginning of 2025. Moreover, experts expect that the growth trend will continue at least until 2027.

A fresh forecast from TrendForce confirms further price increases: if we take the current base of $10/GB, then in the second quarter of 2026, the price could rise to a range of $19.3–$19.8 per gigabyte. This means that standard LPDDR5 modules will almost double in cost in just one quarter.

Additional pressure on the market comes from long-term agreements that are now actively being concluded between manufacturers and customers. According to the latest data, contracts fix a price range of approximately $500 to $1350 for 64 GB of memory. This translates to $7.8 to $21 per gigabyte.

However, there is also a restraining factor: the spread of long-term contracts limits the potential for further price growth. If current estimates hold, the room for additional price increases will be only about 8.8% — based on an average level of $19.3/GB and an upper contract ceiling of about $21/GB.
