Fans brought Dishonored back into trends - will there be a third installment?

Dishonored is considered one of the best stealth-action games. Arkane Studios' project stood out for its non-linear levels, unique steampunk setting, and mechanics that allowed missions to be completed in various ways. The first part received high ratings and awards.

The sequel, Dishonored 2, was released in 2016 and also received good reviews, but sales were weaker than expected. After this, the future of the series was in question.

The situation was exacerbated by the closure of Arkane Austin studio in 2024 after the failure of Redfall. Meanwhile, Arkane Lyon continues to work on Marvel's Blade.

The reason for new discussions was a post on X, which garnered over 11 million views and 36 thousand likes. Users massively shared their love for Dishonored, and some urged new players to try the series. Even Arkane thanked the author of the post.

However, SteamDB data does not confirm a surge of interest: both parts have less than 1000 active players simultaneously.

It is known that Microsoft mentioned Dishonored 3 in a 2023 leak — the game was allegedly in development in 2020 and planned for release in fiscal year 2024. However, the project never materialized.

Other games from that list have already been released, and there has been no news about Dishonored 3 since then. Theoretically, Xbox could greenlight it, but even in that case, the release is unlikely to happen before the early 2030s.
