IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak assured players that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the spy action game 007 First Light will definitely be released — albeit with a delay.
Initially, the game was scheduled for release on May 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the Switch 2 version intended to launch simultaneously. However, its release has now been postponed to a later date — tentatively to late summer.
In an interview with The Game Business, Abrak emphasized that development of the Switch 2 version is actively continuing, and it's not about an indefinite postponement, as happened with Borderlands 4 on the same platform. According to him, the team simply wants to bring the quality to the desired level.
The game is already running on Switch 2, but we need a little more time to bring it to a state we'll be happy with. I don't want to hear that it's a “failed version.”
Abrak also noted the importance of the James Bond franchise for Nintendo platforms, recalling the iconic game GoldenEye 007. He promised to do everything possible to ensure the 007 First Light version for Switch 2 is released “in excellent shape.”
