Spiders studio released the latest update for GreedFall: The Dying World. Along with the patch, users gained access to previously paid content.
The patch activated a DLC with a separate storyline called Peren's Black Mass, which was originally planned to be distributed on a paid basis. However, as media outlets note, the game itself lacks clear instructions on how to start this content. Apparently, the developers did not have time to correctly implement the instructions before the closure of Spiders studio.
Due to poor communication and the absence of a team capable of clarifying the details, players will likely have to figure out how to activate the DLC on their own. It is possible that the game has an automatic trigger, timed to the original release date of the add-on – May 14.
GreedFall: The Dying World was released in early access in September 2024. Unlike the original with its action mechanics, the new installment focused on turn-based combat with squad management, which caused a mixed reaction from players. Despite the criticism, the project continued to evolve and reached a full 1.0 release in March 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
However, soon after, publisher Nacon announced its insolvency, followed by a similar statement from Spiders. This effectively put an end to further support for the game.
