Creative Assembly recently held a special stream and announced its return to the global strategy game Total War: Rome II Emperor Edition. 13 years after its release, the game remains popular, and the studio plans to release a series of updates for it.

  • The first update, Mars, will focus on the combat system. The developers intend to make battles more "readable," increase the importance of armor, and make troop morale more sensitive to tactics. Enemy AI will be improved.
  • The second, Venus, will focus on the visual component of the project. Improvements to the game interface, updated textures, and enhanced lighting are expected.
  • The third, Jupiter, will see developers focus on campaign gameplay and economics. The developers will rework the settlement system, expand the army limit, and update the research tree.

There is no exact release date for the updates for Total War: Rome II Emperor Edition yet.

During this special stream, Creative Assembly also talked about their other projects, including the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The developers showcased several locations they are currently working on and discussed a number of game mechanics.
