GTA VI fan spent three months using astrology to analyze Rockstar videos from the past 19 years to predict the third trailer's release date
While waiting for the new installment of the franchise, some individuals are clearly not bored.
Rockstar Games has not released a new trailer or screenshots for Grand Theft Auto VI in a long time. Some players are tired of waiting and are trying to figure out when the developers might show them fresh promotional materials.
While some users are trying to "guess" — looking for hints about the third trailer's release date in GTA Online screenshots — others are trying to use scientific (and not so scientific) methods to "calculate" the premiere date.
Recently, a post by user JalapenoPoppers24 went viral in the Grand Theft Auto VI waiting community. He used astrology to research Rockstar Games trailers that the studio had released since 2007. The enthusiast built a planetary position chart for each such video and shared his observations:
I obtained precise UTC timestamps for all 26 confirmed Rockstar announcement events, starting with GTA IV (all trailers, all gameplay videos, all release trailers), and calculated the geocentric ecliptic longitudes for all 9 classical celestial bodies at the time of each premiere.
The enthusiast was able to identify a pattern between the position of celestial bodies and the publication of materials for RDR 2 and GTA VI:
The most interesting pattern for outer planets is the compression of the distance between Saturn and Pluto. From the first RDR2 trailer in 2016 to the RDR2 PC release trailer in 2019, each release occurred when Saturn and Pluto were no more than 24° apart, and more often within 15°, leading to an exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in January 2020. Their entire marketing campaign ran within this aspect. For GTA VI, both trailers (December 2023 and May 2025) were released with Saturn in Pisces and a tense Mars-Saturn square. The current position of Saturn (transition into Aries) and the upcoming Sun-Mercury conjunction in mid-Taurus significantly narrow the window for the next "signature" moment.
As a result, the researcher concluded that the third GTA VI trailer might be shown as early as May 14. He introduced a scoring system for days from May 1 to August 31, and this particular Thursday received the highest score:
I assigned scores to each day from May 1 to August 31, 2026, based on Rockstar's "historical footprint" (Sun sign, Mercury sign, Saturn sign, Sun-Mercury conjunction, Mars-Saturn square, Thursday bonus). The highest score in the entire 123-day window is Thursday, May 14, 2026, with 12 out of 16 points. Sun in Taurus (23°), Mercury conjunct Sun (less than 4° difference), Saturn in Aries, Venus in Leo, plus Thursday (the day on which 12 out of 26 historical releases occurred). Additionally, it's exactly one week and one day after the anniversary of the second GTA VI trailer, AND it's the same calendar date (the 14th) as the second GTA V trailer, which Rockstar moved from November 2 to November 14 in 2012. The number 14 is no coincidence. I'll set a reminder. If the third trailer comes out on May 14, I want to be remembered.
Even if JalapenoPoppers24 "missed the mark," he clearly managed to pass the time, as this astrological research took him about 3 months.
