It is still unknown when the looter-shooter will be released on Nintendo consoles.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on the situation with the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4, confirming that the development pause is indeed due to technical issues and the need to refine the game.

The suspension of work on the port for the new Nintendo console became known back in February, when Take-Two mentioned it in its quarterly financial report. At the time, company representatives called the decision "difficult", but did not disclose details.

Now, in an interview with journalist Stephen Totilo, Zelnick explained that for Take-Two, the main platforms remain PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. However, the publisher intends to support other devices if the audience is interested in playing on them.

According to the head, the team is currently focused on fixing technical issues with the PC version on Steam. This was the main reason for the temporary pause in porting the game to Switch 2.

We are addressing these issues and want to make sure we have fully met player expectations for Borderlands 4 before bringing the game to other platforms.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive.

Despite this, the head of Take-Two emphasized that the launch of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 remains a quite realistic scenario. In his opinion, the new Nintendo console is capable of handling the game, and the developers consider such a port "feasible".
