Nintendo Suddenly Announced a New Star Fox
Nintendo held a Star Fox Direct without any prior announcements and immediately showcased a new game in the series.
Rumors about the return of Star Fox had previously circulated online. Ultimately, Nintendo decided to make the announcement in its own way, without teasers.
The new game is a full-fledged remake of Star Fox 64. It will be released on Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. Judging by the first showcase, the game will retain the mission structure, battles, and atmosphere of the original Nintendo 64 title, but will feature completely updated graphics.
Nintendo also redesigned the characters' appearances, while the developers tried to maintain the style of the early installments in the series.
Gameplay will remain true to the classic: players will once again go through a linear campaign, search for alternative routes, and unlock additional levels. New elements will also appear — additional briefings and scenes with the Star Fox team, expanding the universe's lore.
The developers added new difficulty levels and a challenge mode with additional tasks for already completed missions.
Multiplayer with 4v4 online battles will also return. Nintendo also confirmed mouse control support for shooting, one of the new features of Switch 2.
