Karyn Kusama, known for the films "Jennifer's Body" and "The Invitation," as well as the series "Yellowjackets," will direct the first episodes of the Life is Strange adaptation for Prime Video.

In an interview with Polygon, director Karyn Kusama admitted that she had not been interested in game adaptations before. However, after getting acquainted with Don't Nod's project, she changed her mind. Now Kusama is very intrigued and wants to preserve the key features of the original game, making the characters more vivid and the story accessible to viewers unfamiliar with video games.

"It's a fantastic adaptation of the game. It stays true to some of the most recognizable elements of the original, but it also takes a step forward, showing characters that we can feel and see as living people. I'm very excited about it because all these time travel journeys are extremely intriguing, and right now I'm preparing for the shoot."

At the same time, Kusama admitted that she herself had not played Life is Strange, but had watched playthroughs.

"I'm not a gamer, but I watched playthroughs to see how the story could unfold depending on the choices made. Most of all, I wanted to understand how to preserve what people love about the game and make it accessible to everyone who, like me, doesn't play games. I was very interested in the idea of bringing these characters to life and portraying them in a real setting. I hope we can find a balance between respecting the game and creating something unique and original."
