Publisher DreadXP and DarkStone Digital studio announced the cancellation of the horror game Paranormal Activity: Threshold – a game based on the "Paranormal Activity" film franchise, announced in 2024. The project was being developed by Brian Clarke, the author of the successful indie horror game The Mortuary Assistant.
Clarke personally announced the termination of development, publishing an appeal to fans. According to him, the team needed additional time to bring the game to the required quality and not release a "raw" product. DreadXP supported the developer's desire to extend production and appealed to the franchise rights holder – Paramount Pictures – with a request to postpone the deadlines.
However, Paramount refused to grant an extension. As a result, Clarke faced a choice: accelerate development and release the game in an unsatisfactory state, or terminate cooperation. The developer decided to abandon the project.
