Sonic Frontiers to get a "Definitive Edition"? New hint from Sega
Sega is increasingly hinting at the release of Sonic Frontiers in a Definitive Edition. The game's description on Steam has been updated and its price permanently lowered, which has happened before the release of updated editions of Sonic Mania and Sonic Origins.
The last time Sonic Frontiers sales were reported was a year ago – then Sega stated that the game had sold almost 5 million copies. Amidst stable sales and positive reviews, rumors of a sequel emerged, which, according to insiders, is already in development at Sonic Team.
There is no official announcement yet, but back in March, information appeared that Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition had already passed age classification in South Korea, although the project itself had not been presented.
Now users have noticed new changes on the game's Steam page: an updated description and a permanent price reduction. This coincides with how Sega previously prepared the releases of updated versions of its projects.
In 2026, Sonic the Hedgehog turns 35, and Sega is likely preparing several announcements for the anniversary. Among them could be the Definitive Edition of Sonic Frontiers, although fans are still waiting for a full-fledged sequel to the series.
