According to Deadline, the director of "Superbad," "Adventureland," and "Confess, Fletch" is currently considered one of the main candidates to direct James Gunn and Peter Safran's new project.
The publication notes that there is no final decision yet: the contract has not been signed, and the studio is considering other candidates. However, Mottola has high chances, as he has already worked with Gunn's team – the director helmed the second and third episodes of the second season of "Peacemaker."
The project itself is still in its early stages. Although the first information about it appeared back in 2024, there have been no official details since then, and the first movements have only just begun.
