Shift Up has officially confirmed that the Stellar Blade sequel will be released without Sony Interactive Entertainment as the publisher. The developers intend to self-publish and promote the next installment of the franchise.
The original Stellar Blade was released in April 2024 exclusively on PlayStation 5 with Sony's support, and reached PC 14 months later. Now, the Korean studio Shift Up has decided to transition to a self-publishing model for its games.
The company revealed this during a Q&A session following the publication of its first-quarter financial report. According to the developers, the production of the new installment "is going smoothly" and meets the planned quality standards.
Shift Up emphasized that foregoing a publisher will allow the studio to independently build its marketing strategy and better showcase the unique style and universe of Stellar Blade. The company also stated that it expects to interact directly with audiences worldwide.
