Konami announced that sales of Silent Hill f have exceeded two million copies worldwide as of April 22. The statistics include both physical editions of the game and digital sales across all platforms.
The project was developed by NeoBards Entertainment and published by Konami. Initially, the game was supposed to follow the series' traditional concept with a religious cult secretly controlling the plot's events. However, after numerous discussions between screenwriter Ryukishi07 and producer Motoi Okamoto, it was decided to place a greater emphasis on Japanese mythology and local cultural flavor.
The risky move, apparently, paid off. The game not only topped Japanese gaming charts and received a number of awards but also quickly gained popularity outside of Japan. Memes, fan art, and theories dedicated to the plot of Silent Hill f actively spread online.
