A24 unveils new teaser for horror film The Backrooms based on creepypasta about liminal spaces

A24 studio has released a new teaser for the horror film "The Backrooms of Reality" — an adaptation of the internet creepypasta The Backrooms and the web series of the same name by Kane Parsons.

Chiwetel Ejiofor plays the main role in the film. His character, Clark, discovers a passage to a strange dimension right inside a furniture store, after which he disappears among endless rooms. Psychotherapist Mary Kline, played by Renate Reinsve, sets off to search for the hero.

Earlier, the first reviews after private screenings already appeared online. Critics and viewers call "The Backrooms of Reality" one of the most unusual horror films of recent years, praising the atmosphere, visual effects, and numerous references to The Backrooms mythology. Among the complaints, a convoluted plot and sometimes weak dialogues are most often mentioned.

The international premiere of the film is scheduled for May 29. In Russia, "The Backrooms of Reality" will start a week later, on June 4, 2026.
