The scandalous moment from "The Punisher: The Last Kill" turned out to be real

After the premiere of "The Punisher: The Last Kill," one of the most discussed moments of the special episode was a scene in which Frank Castle, played by Jon Bernthal, jumps from a roof, shooting an enemy, and then falls onto an air conditioner.

The clip quickly spread across social media. Viewers accused Marvel of neglecting quality, suggested that the studio released an unfinished version of the episode on Disney+, and ridiculed the scene, comparing it to a cutscene from a PlayStation 4-era game.

However, The Hollywood Reporter, citing sources familiar with the production, reported that the scene was mostly filmed with virtually no CGI. According to the publication, Jon Bernthal performed the beginning of the fall himself, and a stunt double replaced him at the moment of impact. Computer graphics were only used to replace the stunt double's face with the actor's face.

The problem, apparently, lies not in the stunt itself, but in the material's processing. Slow-motion playback, lighting, and additional camera shake made the scene and movements during the fall look unrealistic, even though the stunt was performed for real.
