Bandai Namco confirmed the use of AI. Developers want to speed up work on new products
Bandai Namco has officially confirmed the use of AI tools in game development. The company stated that AI helps accelerate workflows and relieve employees of routine tasks.
During a Q&A session with investors, the publisher of Tekken, Elden Ring, and Tales of revealed that it actively uses AI in development. However, company representatives emphasized that the technology should not replace artists and developers.
Currently, AI is mainly used for searching data and materials in the company's internal libraries. This allows for faster retrieval of necessary elements for specific projects and saves team time.
According to Bandai Namco, automating auxiliary processes helps developers focus more on creative work, creating mechanics, scenarios, and other key game elements.
At the same time, Bandai Namco does not yet intend to implement fully AI-generated models, textures, or animations in releases. As with The Blood of Dawnwalker, AI is mainly used to create temporary objects and prototypes, which are later replaced by artists' manual work.
The company will continue to explore the possibilities of AI and select scenarios for its application in future projects.
