New Yoshi Game to Showcase Switch 2 and Unreal Engine 5 Potential

New details about Yoshi and the Mysterious Book have emerged online. According to pre-loaded data, Nintendo is preparing one of the most technologically advanced platformers in the series for Switch 2, utilizing Unreal Engine 5.

Previously, Yoshi games already ran on Epic Games technologies, but the new installment has specifically transitioned to Unreal Engine 5. This information was discovered by analyzing files and plugin licenses. UniversoNintendo's source mentions SideFXLabs, Stylized Post Process, and Kawaii Physics — tools associated with UE5.

The main feature of the game will be its visual style. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book resembles a living children's book with stop-motion animation effects, "paper" scenery, and animation in the style of stop-motion filming.

The new installment will also focus on world exploration and interaction with the environment. According to the plot, Yoshi travels inside a living book and uses the abilities of creatures to solve puzzles.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is set to release on May 21, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
