After 13 years, a TES V: Skyrim modder launched the game without mods and was delighted
It turns out you can play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim without modifications.
Recently, a post by a user under the nickname sandraviolskyia went viral in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim community. He explained that he has been actively modding "Skyrim" for about 13 years.
A few months ago, he wanted to try playing again, but didn't want to spend time preparing a modpack. So sandraviolskyia launched a clean version of TES V: Skyrim — even without the SkyUI modification (a more convenient user interface) and he "got into" the game:
[Skyrim] still just works. Sometimes it felt like I was playing a new game or a game from my childhood that I hadn't touched in a decade. I also realized that no matter how hard we try to make the perfect modified Skyrim — it's simply impossible. I had a collection of 600+ mods that I worked on for months, and there was always something I wanted to fix or improve. It's easier to just stop bothering and enjoy the original game.
The modder noted that the standard version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim "still looks good" to this day. He suggests other players recall what the "vanilla" version (without installed modifications) feels like.
