Resident Evil 9 helped the series set a historic sales record
The Resident Evil series has surpassed 200 million copies sold. Capcom announced this in the franchise's 30th anniversary year, with Resident Evil 9: Requiem being the main driver of sales growth.
The company updated the data in its latest financial report. According to Capcom, total Resident Evil sales reached 201 million copies. In fiscal year 2025 alone, the publisher sold 26.76 million games in the series, with about a quarter of that result coming from Resident Evil 9: Requiem.
Resident Evil remains one of the most successful gaming franchises in industry history. The series has been around for 30 years and has gone through several console generations.
Capcom also revealed the current sales of other major franchises:
- Monster Hunter — 127 million
- Street Fighter — 59 million
- Mega Man — 44 million
- Devil May Cry — 38 million
The company specifically noted the success of multimedia projects. In particular, the Devil May Cry series from Netflix helped increase the series' sales to almost 40 million copies.
Capcom sold 54 million games in the last fiscal year. In fiscal year 2026, the publisher expects to sell 67 million copies thanks to new releases and discounts.
