Epic Games has been fined in Russia for violating personal data legislation. The decision was made by the magistrate of the Tagansky District of Moscow, as reported by the Moscow City Court.
The court found the developer of Fortnite and Unreal Engine guilty under Part 8 of Article 13.11 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation. This refers to the operator's failure to fulfill obligations when collecting and processing users' personal data via the internet.
As a result, Epic Games was ordered to pay an administrative fine of 2 million rubles.
Since the beginning of the year, similar rulings have been issued against EA, Take-Two, Battlestate Games, and several other companies.
