Baldur's Gate 3 Modder Adds Smart Dice Support - You Have to Roll Them in Reality Instead of In-Game Rolls
Now players will be to blame for failure themselves and won't be able to attribute everything to an unlucky roll of the "random number generator."
The computer role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 uses virtual dice for rolls. One modder decided that this part of the "tabletop RPG" could be made much more interesting.
SkyExplosionist added support for smart dice to Baldur's Gate 3 – to pass checks, you will need to make real rolls:
This mod hooks into the dialogue check system in Baldur's Gate 3 and links it to physical Pixels smart dice. When a dialogue check is initiated in the game, the mod notifies a companion app, which waits for the result of a physical dice roll – after the roll is made, it transmits this result back to the game. The on-screen result matches what you actually rolled.
SkyExplosionist distributes the "Baldur's Gate 3 Smart Dice Rolls Mod" for free via Nexus Mods. The developer noted that the mod works not only when playing BG3 with a mouse and keyboard, but also with DualSense (PS5) and Xbox controllers; they also clarified that it will work in co-op play.
A demonstration of the modification's operation can be viewed at the following link.
