Netflix has reminded us of the second season of "Blue Eye Samurai" for the first time in a long while. The streaming service confirmed that the animated series' continuation is still in production and "coming soon," and will show the first materials at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which will take place from June 21 to 27.

Netflix is expected to unveil a new trailer and reveal the release date: the project is still slated for 2026, and the year is already approaching its halfway point. The last time the creators shared new materials was in August 2025, when they showed a small teaser.

According to the official synopsis, Mizu will continue her journey in the British capital, where she will face "new friends, old enemies, and her own demons." In parallel, the story will return to Japan: Ringo will try to find new meaning in life after Mizu's presumed death, while Akemi and Taigen will become embroiled in political intrigues after the shogun's death.

"Blue Eye Samurai" debuted in 2023 and quickly became one of Netflix's most successful animated projects. The series won four Emmy Awards, six Annie Awards, and a Peabody Award nomination.
