Dan Harmon, one of the creators of "Rick and Morty," has confirmed that Warner Bros. has greenlit a live-action feature film. Jacob Hair, who has been working on the animated series since its fourth season, will direct the movie.
Plot details have not yet been revealed. It is also unknown whether the film will be released in theaters or become an HBO Max exclusive. In previous interviews, Harmon stated that he envisioned a full-length "Rick and Morty" film as a very expensive and long episode of the series, but at that time, he was referring to an animated version, which Zack Snyder offered to help launch.
The estimated release date for the film has not been disclosed. For now, fans of the franchise can look forward to the ninth season of "Rick and Morty," which premieres on Adult Swim on May 24. The series has already been renewed for a twelfth season, so the feature film should not be seen as an attempt to conclude the story.
