Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed in an interview with TheArnoldFans that filming for "King Conan" will begin in 2027.

"Next year we are going to shoot a King Conan movie. So that is a reality, and I am excited. For the last ten years, I have been saying, 'We need to do a King Conan movie, write a great script, find someone who understands Robert E. Howard and Frank Frazetta's work, and get on with it.' I want John Milius, the director of the first Conan movie, to possibly be a producer. It will be fantastic."

Schwarzenegger is not worried about his age. On the contrary, the 78-year-old actor considers it suitable for the story that "King Conan" will tell. The film is positioned as a sequel to 1982's "Conan the Barbarian" and will focus on an aging hero who has been on the throne for 40 years and faces challengers who see his age as a weakness. Schwarzenegger himself describes the project as Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven" with "incredible battles."

Christopher McQuarrie, screenwriter and director of the "Mission: Impossible" film series, as well as "Jack Reacher" and "Top Gun: Maverick," will direct.
