CD Projekt Senior Technical Artist Adrian Fulnechek stated that the studio now has a new definition of what constitutes a "completed" development stage. Now, each key production stage ends with a mandatory review, and one of the main conditions for passing it is full documentation. According to Jarosław Ruczyński, head of the technical writing team, such requirements were previously absent at CD Projekt Red.
It was the lack of up-to-date documentation, as the developers note, that largely led to problems even during the creation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Now the studio intends to avoid a repeat of such situations in future projects.
The employees named Gwent: The Witcher Card Game as the best example of organized development within CD Projekt Red. Despite constant updates, balance adjustments, and new content, the team kept the documentation up-to-date, allowing new artists, programmers, and designers to quickly join the work without losing time.
CD Projekt Red acknowledges that maintaining such a system requires additional resources, but believes that in the long run, it does not slow down production, but rather accelerates development and makes it more stable.
