A major technical update is being prepared for Helldivers 2, which will add support for modern image upscaling technologies to the game.

On PC, players will get support for several modern solutions: AMD FSR 4.0.3 for compatible graphics cards, FSR 3.1.5, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, and Intel XeSS 3.0. Console versions will also receive updates: the regular PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions will get FSR 3.1, while PlayStation 5 Pro owners will only get PSSR 1.

Previously, Sony introduced an improved version of its proprietary PSSR upscaler, so many expected the new version of the technology to appear specifically on PS5 Pro. Arrowhead has not yet explained why the updated PSSR variant is not being used, but it is possible that support for it will be added later.

In addition to upscaling technologies, the update will also bring a number of additional graphical improvements. PS5 and PS5 Pro will get Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, which reduces image stuttering without screen tearing on compatible displays. The game will also receive Variable Rate Shading (VRS), which reduces GPU load by more flexibly distributing rendering resources, and Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) to maintain a stable frame rate in particularly demanding scenes.
